Bhagyashree Prefers Green Chilli Over Red Ones; Heres Why

Are you someone who loves spicy food? Well, then, chillies surely are an important part of your meal. Though some like the freshness of the green chillies, others prefer sprinkling red chilli powder on their food. But there is a never-ending debate about which is better for health. Don’t know about you but actress Bhagyashree has made the choice. And it’s loud and clear, she prefers the humble green chilli. Apart from the hot and spicy flavour, the green chillies come with a pack of health benefits. In her latest Instagram video, Bhagyashree said that people who prefer spicy food should eat up green chilli, “especially the homegrown ones.” Further, she has also shared various benefits found in the humble spice and how they play a pivotal role in maintaining good health.

1. Vitamin C And Beta-carotene

Bhagyashree has said that green chillies are loaded with Vitamin C and beta-carotene. It is good for the eyes, skin and immune system.

2.Anti-Oxidants

Antioxidants are also found in abundance in this spice, hence it acts as a natural scavenger, protecting the body against free radicals.

3.Capsaicin and Dihydrocapsaicin

Green chillies can balance your blood sugar levels. If you are diabetic, include them in your diet for reaping great benefits. Capsaicin, in green chillies, has a stimulating effect on the mucus membranes of the nose and sinuses as well. It stimulates blood flow and makes mucus secretion thinner. Therefore, combating the common cold or sinus infections becomes easy. Capsaicin and Dihydrocapsaicin also reduce the formation of fatty deposits on the artery walls.

Bhagyashree has further stated that green chilli “reduces” the chances of developing cancer cells.

Even though red chillies have almost similar benefits, Bhagyashree’s vote goes to green chillies over red chilli powder. Wondering why? This is because red chillies are rarely eaten raw. The majority of the time, it is in powdered form, hence mixing and adulteration are common. In addition, Bhagyashree said, “Eating more red chillies can cause gastric ulcers and heartburn.”
